This is an amazing stone statue, over 4500 years old... Do you not wonder the skills of the ancient artist... This is my attempt to do justice to this amazing piece. Scratchboard work on Ampersand board. I cannot begin to count those lines and nicks I made with a razor-sharp scalpel to do this artwork...

This work will be exhibited (and is for sale) at the Villa Royal "Egyptian Treasures" exhibition in Finland, opening at 18th February this year.

  1. Congratulations Leena!

I didn't realise you'd finished this one and had been patiently waiting for you to pick up where you left off. Did you stop blogging about the progress or did I somehow miss it?

I am sure your work will be enjoyed and impress many visitors to the exhibition.

  2. Hi, Vincent! No, you did not miss any pics. I simply spent so many months painting those oils so they would have time to dry before framing. And I did finish this only during the last two weeks. I left this waiting because it is a "dry" media and I knew I'd still have time for the framing once it was finished. (No need to wait for several weeks for the oils to dry).

    Leena :)
